CN102a: Phase II Lithium Trial |
This Phase 2 randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial is to
assess the efficacy of 6-week course of oral lithium in patients with
chronic spinal cord injury. It was conducted by China Rehabilitation
Research Center, Beijing, in 2008-2009 and by Buddhist Tzuchi Hospital,
Taichung, in 2009-2010.
Study Sites: China Rehabilitation Research Center (Beijing) and Buddhist Tzuchi Hospital (Taichung)
Principal Investigators: Dr. Jianjun LI and Dr. Tzu-Yung CHEN
No. of Subjects enrolled: 57
Sponsorship: Hong Kong Spinal Cord Injury Fund (HKSCIFund) and Buddhist Tzuchi Foundation (covering all the expenses in Buddhist Tzuchi Hospital)
The study shows: "The lithium treatment did not change the neurological outcomes of patients with chronic spinal cord injury. It is worth to investigate whether lithium is effective in the treatment of neuropathic pain in chronic spinal cord injury (quoted form the Publication)".
